how to install 3rd party windows 7 themes



If you ever downloaded windows 7 theme directly from Microsoft, you must be knowing that the theme’s file extension is .themepack. But 3rd party windows 7 themes has the file extension .theme and usually comes with a whole folder of files. For installing 3rd party or unsigned themes windows7 themes you will have to patch three dll files

– uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll and themeservice.dll.

so lets see how you can patch these files.







Its always a good to take a Backup, before editing or modifying any thing. To take backup goto “system32″ folder

(C:\Windows\system32\)
and backup the following 3 dll files:





uxtheme.dll

themeui.dll

themeservice.dll




Once you backup all the above files, follow the steps given below:





# 1

Download ‘UXStyle Core

and install it. This software will create a new process called “UnsignedThemesSvc.exe” that will be running in the background and will allow you to run 3rd-party themes.





# 2. Download and Install ‘Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package’.

Download for:

Windows x64 | Windows7 x86.







# 3. After Installing both the files, reboot your PC.





# 4. Changing Windows Explorer: You can also change the Start Button, to do so you need to download start button changer.







# 5. Now to install 3rd party themes, you have to copy the complete folder of the theme that you downloaded to

C:\Windows\Resources\Themes.
